National Sign and Signal Co., Inc. of Battle Creek Michigan, a leader in the manufacturing of Illuminated Signs for over sixty years, recently announced a breakthrough in Solid State technology that ushers in a new generation of regulatory Blank-Out Signs.

The Solid State Fiber Optic Blank Out Sign (SS/FO/BO) combines the reliability of glass fiber, which National draws at their Battle Creek planet, for transmitting the light that is provided by the solid state light engine.

This results in a sign that provides outstanding illumination, lowered power consumption and reduced maintenance due to the elimination of the circuitry and the individual LEDs in a typical LED sign.

The light engine has a rated life of 100k hours with only hand tools required for replacement. The Solid State Fiber Optic Blank Out Sign carries a five-year warranty.

Another key element of this new technology is the failsafe feature that no other LED Sign provides. In the event of lamp failure, every other point on the face remains lit, thus providing a discernable message to the motorist until a lamp replacement is made. This is not the case with a standard LED Blank-Out Sign.

This new technology utilizes standard ITE colors and applies to all Blank-Out Signs regardless of the size of the message (worded, symbols or multi-message).
